For consignment models, I only want mint or very excellent condition models (new in box models are fine as well). I do not want a bunch of bodies that are rubbed and only good for remaking. if you have a list you want to email me, I can tell you which ones I would suggest. You can also send pictures and I can tell you if they are in the condition I am looking for. Please do not send models to me unless I decide to take them on as consignment.
Here's how it works…
You send the models to me (at your expense). You can also bring them to me if you are not too far and want to drive here (I am located in Dowagiac, Michigan). Once I have the models, I take pictures of them and put descriptions of them on my website. I will price them for you if you want, or you can tell me what to put on them. If you have item names/item numbers for them, that will also be helpful. If you don't have names and numbers, I can do that as well, it just means it takes a bit longer to get them live on the site. Prices can be adjusted at any time; you just need to tell me. I put on the website that offers are accepted, and if I get offers, I let you know and you make the decision to accept.
I will take care of packing and shipping the items, and I keep all shipping charges I collect. I only take PayPal (as well as checks and money orders), but credit card orders are also processed thru Paypal. you are responsible for any fees associated with those services, INCLUDING fees taken out for the shipping collected (it comes off the price of what you will be paid for the sale of the model). You pay whatever the fees PayPal/eBay charges me, which depend on the price of the model and shipping.
I charge a 25% "commission." In addition to this, with the new tax laws, if the models that I will be selling for you could total $600 or more by the end of the year (December 31), I would have to send you a 1099 form for taxes. There is a form you have to fill out and send to my accountant. I do not want it sent to me as it has your social security number on it. If the amount I send you is not $600 or more, you will not be sent a 1099 form.
Here is how the commission charges work. Say you sell a horse for $100, and let’s say PayPal fees were $4.00. That comes off the price of the horse, so the "net sale" is now $96.00. I take 25% of that. I will keep the models listed on my website for as long as you want them up there, but if they are here for months and not moving, we would need to lower the prices to get them moving so that I can accept other consignment models. I can send them back to you at any time, but you would be responsible for any shipping charges to send them back to you, which includes insuring the models for their value. Models are sent via USPS. If there is money that is owed to you, shipping can come out of that. IF there is no money owed to you, return shipping charges must be paid before any models will be returned to you.
I can also list them on eBay. All fees for eBay come out of the sale of the horse, then I take the 25% off the "net sale" and you get the rest. I typically put them on my store rather than auction, at a set price. They can be listed to auction or on the online store. The auction costs more to list as far as eBay fees go. The online store is 50 cents per model for me to list it. There is also eBay fees that eBay takes for items selling in the store (which are higher than if they sell on my site using PayPal). I recommend the online store, as there are not “listing” fees to relist if it doesn’t sell.
The items can be listed BOTH in the eBay store and on my website, and once they sell (on either site), I would delete the other "listing". If they sell of the website, then I just end the auction early since there are no bidders on the store, they either buy it or it stays up. Then all you are out is the eBay listing stuff, no eBay final value price fees.
I send your money to you as a check. Usually, I would send a check when you have at least $100 of merchandise that is sold, I don't want to send a check after every sale. When I send a check, you are also charged for the stamp to send the check. I can also send it PayPal, but PayPal will take a fee.
