Shipping and Returns
We ship UPS to the continental United States and Canada only. Orders to Alaska and Hawaii will be sent USPS and you will be charged accordingly. Insurance and Delivery Confirmation are required on all USPS orders. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE IN CANADA, YOU MAY ALSO BE CHARGED CUSTOMS FEES BEFORE THEY WILL GIVE YOU YOUR BOX. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE HAVE ANY CONTROL OVER.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING 2011 UPS CHARGES. UPS recently raised their rates AND reduced the size for dimensional weight. This means that boxes which are considered oversized are now smaller. Depending on the models you order, this may result in additional shipping costs for your order if you order more than 5 traditional model horses. If your box is oversized you will be notified prior to shipping for approval of additional charges.
IMPORTANT REGARDING EXPEDITED SHIPPING! If you want your package shipped UPS 3 day, 2nd Day, or Next Day, please be aware that for 3 Day and 2nd Day air the first day DOES NOT count in the delivery time. For example, a package sent on Monday 3 day is guaranteed by Thursday (not Wednesday), and a package sent on Monday 2nd Day is guaranteed by Wednesday (not Tuesday), according to UPS policy. Orders sent on Monday going Next Day are guaranteed by Tuesday. If you want your package sent Next Day, 2nd Day or 3 Day Select, please contact us by phone to determine whether or not your order will reach you by the day you need it. Please note that orders do not typically ship on the same day they are placed. They ship on the next UPS pickup day, Monday through Friday, except holidays. For example, orders placed on Monday to be shipped UPS Next Day will not necessarily ship on Monday to arrive on Tuesday, they would ship out on Tuesday to arrive on Wednesday. Orders placed after 4 pm on Thursdays will most likley not ship until the following Monday. This is why it is important for you to call if you want expedited shipping. Please call between the hours of 7 am and 9:30 pm Eastern time, and if you get the answering machine, please leave a message. We will get back to you.
Please note that the shipping calculator is not often accurate when figuring expedited shipping, because expedited shipping is based on weight and dimension of the box, and the shipping calculator associated with our online ordering only calculates shipping according to weight. If shipping is more than it calculates, you will be contacted for approval for additional shipping charges.
Please be sure to proved a correct shipping address and write legibly when you are placing your order via fax or mail. If you move and you have an order that is waiting to be shipped, please let us know the new address so we do not send it to the old one. If you provide an incorrect address and the box is returned to The Model Trading Post as undeliverable, you will be responsible for additional shipping charges to have the box shipped again. If you provide an incorrect address but UPS corrects that address and delivers it, you will be responsible for the $10 address correction charge that UPS charges The Model Trading Post.
If you are sending your order through the mail and paying using a check or money order, UPS GROUND shipping is an estimated $12.00 for the first single model or $13.00 first gift set; $1.00 each additional model/set (UNLESS otherwise specified for a specific model, such as porcelains, Breyer truck, and Breyer trailer). Items such as Stablemates, Paddock Pals, Companion animals (individual pieces), and certain Breyer Tack items are not necessarily $1.00 each. If you would like an exact shipping quote, please call (269) 783-0624 or send an email, and in the email please be sure to provide your UPS deliverable address for a shipping quote. If you do not send enough for shipping charges, there will be a delay in processing your order. However, if you miscalculate an excess of shipping charges, you will receive a refund, or if you are using a credit card, your card will be charged less.
If you want your order to be shipped through the United States Post Office, please call or email for a quote. Please note that ALL orders sent through the post office will be insured with delivery confirmation. It is more economical for larger boxes (bigger than 12 x 12 x 12) to be sent UPS, as the PO charges an oversized charge for any box larger than 12 x 12 x 12. We have daily UPS pick up. We use online processing for post office shipping, and all orders are sent priority mail, not parcel post, with insurance and delivery confirmation.
For online orders, every effort has been made to give accurate shipping charges. If for some reason, the shipping charges are going to be MORE than what is quoted, you will be sent an email to inform you of the actual shipping charges prior to your order being processed so that you can approve the amount. If the shipping charges are going to be significantly LESS than what is quoted, you will not receive an email, but the amount charged to your account will be less. If you request that an item be sent faster than UPS ground, you will be automatically charged the actual shipping charges.
Credit card orders will not be held for single shipments when they contain items that are in stock or become available more than 45 days before other items will be available. For example, if you were to order an item which is not available until March along with other items that are available in January, the order will not be held until June for the other item. You will have the option of canceling the later item(s) or paying an additional shipping charge for multiple shipments. Orders paid for in advance by check/money order can be held for complete shipment, although you can always pay for multiple shipments if you like.
If you receive an item that is damaged in shipping or defective, please keep ALL packing materials (including the box) and contact us immediately so that we can file a claim for the damage. You must contact us within THREE days of receiving merchandise that has been damaged in shipping. We will make arrangements for you to receive a replacement item.
If you wish to return an item that is not defective, please contact us within THREE days of receiving the item, either through email or by phone. The item must be in the original box, in brand new condition, and not removed from the ties. Shipping charges will not be refunded, and the buyer is responsible for any shipping charges to send the item back. If you refuse a package, return shipping charges will also apply.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 16, 2008 If you have a defective item or an item you wish to return that is not defective, you MUST contact us within three days of receiving the item(s) or there will be a 15% restocking fee. The ONLY exeption to this would be items ordered for Christmas gifts that are defective. You must contact us within FOUR days of Christmas to return your item. NO Exceptions, sorry.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING UNAUTHORIZED RETURNS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 16, 2008 If you do not contact us prior to returning your item(s), there will be a 20% restocking fee. Please do not send back merchandise without contacting us via email or phone.
Returns are not accepted for used or consignment models.
